Great Expectations

auntiemame.jpg

Attention! Yes, is this thing on? One-two?

Ahem.

I have composed a little something in honor of my sister, Ashley.

Two hearts beat
Within your frame.
Two tiny feet
Play kicking games.

Two little arms
That wait for you.
Two blinking eyes
Seeing new.

Two ears to hear
Your words so sweet
Two cheeks to kiss,
Two souls to meet.

My little sis is gonna be a little momma! I'm so proud! Like, "huggy and teary, where did the time go, you're gonna be so cute pregnant, I can't wait to touch your round belly, for petes sake get the epidural" proud! A babbbby---- squeeeee!!

Give her some love, everybody. Ashmeg is all growed up and in the family way. *sniff

Now, as the rockinest aunt of all time (next to me, of course) says, "Enough of this. Now let's all go in and have a glass of whisky."

Auntie Mame knew how to do it right, I tell ya.

I love you, Ash. And I'll make a valiant effort not to drink hard liquor around your baby. Beer will be just fine while I'm babysitting.

I really don't remember saying anything about a glass of whiskey.....uh? that was me you were calling the rockingest aunt of all time, wasn't it? I mean, I do still listen to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, et all, you know......just ask around....and I am soooo excited about the newest addition to the family....surely this means you will be pushing King Pen to take a job close to HOME so you can be around this first cousing on your side of the family????

She's gonna love having her bladder smashed.

Yeah, that was always my favorite part, too. Rearranging the internal organs is a hoot!

WonderGirl, thank you so much- that was really beautiful. Can you cross stitch it on a pillow for me? (just kidding!) I am so thankful that I will have you, my veteran baby making and oh so wise sister to help me along the way.

I didn't even know what Phoenix was talking about when he made the comment about the bladder. Boy, do I have much to learn!

Yay!!! My life got so much richer with news of the little Mason on the way. In a way, I have been waiting for this for most of my life! We had big plans to have babies at the same time and raise them together. Um, sorry Ashley. I have some catching up to do. You definitely are going to be the most adorable little pregnant lady on the face of the planet. Yippee!!!

omigosh... I just called Miracle in to read him this entry and couldn't do it for crying and laughing at the same time... sniff... sniff... mwahhhhhhhhhh... if I can quit crying long enough, I'll call Ashley to tell her how very much I love her and how very happy I am to hear she's with child...

I can't imagine how you could get one iota more beautiful than you arleady are, ashmeg... but I do know that pregnant women are the most beautiful women in the world.... so I'm prepared to be amazed...

I love Auntie Mame! We used to watch that movie when we were children. The musical/movie version, with Lucille Ball, is alright, too.

Who will be your Vera Charles?

Posted by: Joey at April 10, 2006 11:58 PM

Why, you of course, dahling.

I am just tickled pink for Ashley Megan! I can still hear her singing (on video of course!) "He's still wuking on me, to make me what I outta be...it took Him just a week to make the moon and the stahs...." I just love those days! Congrats Ashley and Eric!
