Is There A Baby Union?

02.gif

Chipmunk is on a Nap Strike. I don't know if it's an organized event or what, but for about five days in a row now, he absolutely REFUSES to take a nap. Yesterday, I even found a sign beside his bed that said, HECK NO, I WON'T GO (to sleep.)

He's five months old, by the way. I don't know how he made the sign, let along spelled it correctly and WITH GLITTER. But that's beside the point.

He needs his naps. And maybe even more, Mommie needs his naps. No matter what I do, he will lay in his bed and cry for HOURS if I let him. Nothing is working! NOTH-ING.

He MIGHT fall asleep in my arms accidentally, but the second I move him, he's wide awake.

He's my fourth one, ya know-- I feel like this is stuff I should have down pat. But he's giving me a run for my money. This child has a will of iron, and apparently needs less sleep than a grown man.

Ideas?

I don't know if I can find another baby willing to cross the picket line. The last one got bopped upside the head with a flying bottle and hasn't been back since.

I am sorry I can not help because I quit after two. So four is way out of my league! You will figure it out or give up trying. We will see who wins in this baby battle ( I am going for the short guy)lol

Wondergirl,

I still feel like a neophyte sometimes. Luckily, my kids fall into one of two "types" so overall behavior follows some kind of pattern, but the details are new every time.

Might he be teething? My kids typically start a terrible cycle with teething and I fall into a trap of wondering, "Maybe he's ready to drop that nap?", when he's NOT. Will you think I'm an old lady if I say - whiskey on the gums? Ah well, it seems that the first two teeth are a bear, then it's bearable until the incisors...then watch out.

Perhaps his eating is off as well from teething or maybe even a growth spurt, so you could add an extra bottle for a few days to help him out? Just brainstorming with ya...

Or, duh, here's an idea, have you started solids yet? If not, I'll betcha a babysling he's hungry!

Teri, who's little teether cried for nearly the whole vacation until a little tooth popped out on the last day : /

And to add one more thought, I do have a theory about 4th kids...they seem to be the ones to make us work for it!
