BohoBaby Winner!
Hollie won the giveaway over at Musings of a Housewife! There were over 140 entries, and a Sift reader won! How do ya like that? Thanks for participating, everybody. I wish you all could have won! Oh, and I'll be handing out cokes for those of you who helped promote this little venture-- thank you so much. In addition, Hollie, you can look for a little lagniappe to come with your sling, as I promised if she selected a Sift reader.
In related news, I've taken extra fabric from my slings and made a few tote bags. They are TOO cute. I don't know what to do with them, though. Sell them? I've given a few as gifts. This one, I just had to keep myself:

The purple lining is such a delicious color that I want to eat it. I am eager to wear it out, and may have to settle on a trip to Kroger just to go show it off.
Anyway... so, thoughts on these? I could make them in addition to the slings- they take me about the same time. But cost-wise, what would you say? They have a pocket on the inside, and a shape-holding piece in the bottom. They are basic, but well made and durable. And they cost me nothing out of pocket, as they are made from my remnants stash.
Advise!

Could you use one as a diaper bag? How big/small are they?

I'm bummed about not winning, but hey, I'll just have to buy one as the time draws near... The bags are awesome! I think they'd sell like crazy - I mean, I'D buy one. 8)
BTW, loved your post on complaining. I can be a real "martyr" on the inside, while the outside is all cheerful, etc. Much appreciated.

Alison, they could be used as a diaper bag, but not like an overnight kind of diaper bag. Know what I'm saying? They measure about 15 inches wide, and 10 inches deep. It's a little bigger than I would use for a purse- more like a library bag, or everyday light diaper bag.
JB, my condolences on not winning. Seriously, I'm bummed out for everybody, too. Stinks! However, I am gonna do another giveaway of a bag, once I've got a stock built up of them. Maybe you'll luck out with that one! Glad you enjoyed the post, by the way!

Are the bags large enough to be considered shopping bags? At Whole Foods, people can purchase shopping bags, usually made of canvas. They are not gigantic or anything, but they do the trick. I would imagine there is a market for a stylish, reusable shopping bag in this eco-friendly environment in which we find ourselves these days. You might have to consider a different lining, however.
Imagine it:
A new mother shops at her local market with her baby nestled snuggly against her body in one of your slings. She is buying some healthy, organic food for herself so that she is giving the best to her baby in their special breast-feeding bonding moments. As she checks out with her food, a smiling bagger remarks at how stylish and cute her baby sling is. The bagger looks down to see that the mother has a matching grocery sack.
It is a perfect, bohemian moment.

Love the tote! That's a great idea to do with your extra fabric..very economical!
By the way, I really hope you didn't think I was serious about the coke ;)

The totes are super cute! I might have to get one to match my groovy new sling :)

I am lovin' the tote and feel honored that I have the matching sling! We definitely need to hit the town and show off our sling/tote combo.

girl you hit the jackpot on that one. How many women would not want a bag and will we be able to choose from the sling fabric if we like? I am getting ready to send my pregnant co worker to your site to look see also. Good girl Shannon!!

Lovin' cousin's comment! You could just call it a multipurpose bag of somekind. BUT definitely sell it! Consider it a bonus for yourself! Looks like one that I am currently using as a diaper bag.

definitely make more to sell! I would love one, though choosing will be hard because all of your fabrics are great! I want yours, that is one of my favorite pieces of fabric in your "collection", and I love the purple lining, but I could easily be happy with a green or blue lining! I think you ought to offer them in a couple of sizes if possible. I'd like one to use as purse, and a larger one to use as a tote bag for work. And if the tote bag was strong enough to carry a couple of textbooks, I would absolutely, completely, totally love to have one with padded straps.....that would be the perfect teacher's book bag! Sign me up, I definitely want some bags!!!!
