Boho Out and About
My dear bloggy friend, Teri, bought the Inari BohoTote. Being the intuitive (and utterly adorable) person she is, she knew I'd love to see it in action, so she sent me these vacation shots.
Aren't they cute together?

Thank you, Teri. You're a doll!

These pictures make my heart squeeze!
Czarina: (I suspect this pose has been perfected in front of the mirror)

HeroBoy: (up to mischief with his new summer buzz)
The Duke: (I'm just glad he's not falling off the porch!)

Chipmunk: (in some awesome seersucker pants)

And another of Chipmunk head on, 'cause he's so darn cute:

Life on the Brimberry
My husband's childhood home is an amazing place. It stands outside of time. My children play where he played, they climb the same trees, follow the same paths, swing on the same porch swing. It's hard to capture that with pictures, but I tried here to catch that wispy, dreamy feeling of the Brimberry.

This and That
Urgh.
Man, I am so behind on stuff. I feel like a chicken with it's head cut off these days! I have so many little details of things swimming around in my head- or not, I guess, if I'm the chicken with no head.
See? I'm mixing metaphors. You know it's bad when that happens. This may be an indication of permanent drain bamage. (ha)
BohoBaby is coming along, slow and steady. I set up my light studio for taking pictures of each sling. That was pretty fun. I have never been all that interested in photography, but I can see the allure. As an aside, for those of you with photography as a hobby- do you find yourself with a mild urge to wear a beret as your working? Just wondering if that's normal at all.
Anyway.
It was fun. I have A LOT to learn about that, and really, only a limited amount of time, and cranial space, for extra stuff. So, in with photography, and out with.. um... physics. Haven't used it in ages anyway. Just taking up space. As a matter of fact, calculus can go, too.
-subject change-
We rented "Stardust" last night- I've been wanting to see it for ages. I finally recovered enough from my husband's "Lord of the Rings" taunting to risk renting another fantasy-themed movie. And, I will confide in you, dear reader, that even King Pen liked this movie. He may not speak to me after that revelation, but it's true. My man liked this movie. I know because he only made two snide, MST3K-like remarks. If you have ever watched a movie with King Pen, then you know, this is progress. As Dolly mentioned the other day on her blog, it had a "Princess Bride" flavor to it. (And it's common knowledge that you can't be a decent human being and not like PB. It's simply mandatory.) So, go and rent, and be prepared to wish you were Claire Daines again just a little bit. (She's so loverly.)
Grocery Game update-- got my first Sunday paper to clip coupons out of, and I realize, two things. Number one, this is yet another thing for me to obsess over. Yay. But, I could save gobs, so there ya have it. At least it's a productive obsession. And number two, I like to cut things. I really do. Is that weird? The thinner the paper, the better... and the fact that I have a preference is a bit worrisome. Anywho, I'll go shopping tomorrow, so I'll letcha know how it goes.
And lastly, here are a few pics I took, playing around with lighting and whatnot. I shamelessly stole the picture frame idea from Dolly (whom I seem to be stalking these days, apparently). I'm doing the whole family, and if Dolly doesn't like it, she can just... uh... send me an email. Cause I'm stealing it, and that's that. I ain't a'skerred of her. I could take her.
(Sorry, Dolly. This is a direct result of the limited neuro-processing thing I was talking about earlier.)

(By the way, Czarina BEGGED me to straighten her hair, so don't panic, Mom. The curls are still there. My little comedian dramatically wailed after I had finished, "Oh no!! My curls are gone! That's where I get all my ideas-- now I can't think of a single thing!" I don't know where she comes up with that stuff.)
Oh, and here's a picture of a sling I took in my "studio".
Fancy, huh?

I Took My Hair to the Movies
Okay, so I'm on Day 15 of No Shampoo, and I have to say, it looks kind of fabulous. No, seriously. I had a rough few days this week, when the back was balancing out, and I was really rethinking this whole hairbrained idea! (OH PUNNY ME!!) But now, well. Lemme tell you. It's pretty rock'n! It's thicker, shinier, lusher. Maybe a bit coarser, but I could use some conditioner if I had to. It's definitely healthier looking, and holds a style really well. Here's a picture I got King Pen to snap of the back of it:

This hair deserved a night on the town. So, Friday night, I met Dolly and Sarah (no link, because she doesn't blog, HINT, HINT!) for a coffee catch-up. Afterwards, it was still early, and my hair just wasn't ready to call it a night. I was inclined to agree. King Pen had kid duty, so I whisked my hair off to the dollar theater just for the heck of it. We got there with time to kill, so I took some random shots. If anyone thought I was weird for taking pictures all by my lonesome, they were quickly distracted by my gorgeomous hair and didn't say a word.
Check out the boots. How could I NOT take a picture?

Not a bad movie for a buck:

I tried to win Spongebob with the claw game and lost. He didn't take it well:
Yes, I spread napkins out on my seat. Wouldn't you?:

Movie ticket: $1. Fountain drink: $18.50:

Me, at a girl movie, missing WonderMom and the WonderSisters:

A Sight in Seersucker
This was a Sunday ago, before church. Chipmunk was too cute in his seersucker pants, and we had to snap a picture...

I don't know where you stand on the issue, but I am a staunch proponent of dressing boys like boys. I have plenty of friends who believe that babies should be dressed prettily no matter what their gender, and hey, it's their kid. They've earned the right to dress 'em up however they want. But for me, I like my boys in miniature man clothes. I am highly amused to see a little fella all dudded up like Daddy.
Seersucker is sweet, though, and as long as it's not in the form of a bubble suit, I can handle it.
PS. Ignore the slightly diabolical smile on my face in that picture. Don't know where that came from, especially since we're on our way to church.

I mentioned that Czarina wanted French toast for her birthday breakfast, didn't I? I make a mean French toast. When I was a kid, we always got to choose the menu for one meal on our birthday. I am continuing the grand tradition with my own kiddos. I wanted Czarina to feel extra special on her big day, so I made up a nice placemat for her. She loved it.

Through the Lense
Pictures. OhmygoodnessdoIhavesomepictures.
Czarina's last day of school before Christmas break involved carolling at a nursing home, and a Christmas program. Here is Czarina as an angel. We decided on butterfly wings instead of the red feather wings. Cause, ya know. Who's gonna argue the semantics of angelic flight with a five year old? The elderly? Um, no.
After school, we headed to King Pen's parent's house. (By the way, it is at those moments that I begin to dwell on the merits of the minivan. Oh, me wantee.) Anyway, Christmas Eve, gifts were opened from grandparents, and Czarina got Tinkerbell, which was the hit of the holiday. She calls her Twinkerbell, which we don't correct because it's too darn cute. The Duke was also quite enamored with his gift, which he has banged proudly upon since then. After all the gift opening that night, some of the youngsters needed to belly up to the bar for some chocolate milk. More gifty gifty, and general Christmas chaos. Jackson finds a quiet place to watch a little SpongeBob after the gift frenzy.
The next morning, we had proof positive that Santa is clinically insane. He gave my two year old a skateboard. Oh sweet heaven. At least he included a helmet, so maybe that will cut down the trips to the ER by a few. When Czarina saw the bookbag filled with school supplies and activity books that Santa left her, she said sort of surprised, "Wow. Santa gave me a lot of homework." Which she started immedietely, because she's such a good girl. (Lest you think Santa only gave homework, note the dollhouse in the background. He's not All Work and No Play, that Santa.) Meanwhile, I found a little something tucked under the tree for me, too. But it crawled away, so I grabbed it up quick.
Later, at Christmas Part Two (my folk's house), HeroBoy is still HelmetBoy with Grandma. Then he mysteriously disappeared, and this kid showed up. I have no idea who that is. Seriously. After a full day of picture taking, we started to notice something. My sister, Playdo Brittany, is going to the Paul Mitchell University of Hair and All That. (she's getting her Ph.D in hairology. ha.) Anyway, she brought home these two mannequin heads for us to play with, and they kept popping up in pictures. Especially the ones of my cousin Thor-Axe. And in true WonderFamily fashion, we took the joke a little too far. First we put PlayDo Britt in the picture. Then my dad put the heads on broomsticks and attacked Thor-Axe with them. I love that you can see my dad's mischievous head poking up, not to mention the mannequin's delusional love for Thor-Axe.
Here is where the sugar starts to kick in for Czarina. Oh, okay, Thor-Axe and I had a little, too. Notice in that last one that Thor-Axe has straight hair. PlayDo Britt got after him with her tools to see what would happen. Dad, ever the opportunist, figured that a little creative positioning might lend him a few inches, too. Nice try, Dad. A little late to the party, Ashley and Eric ripped into their Christmas stockings like rabid dogs. Kidding. They were very grown up about the whole thing, except that Eric couldn't wait to put his hat on even though it didn't match his shirt. He so crazy.
What you do not see pictured here is the Hick Teeth Family Portrait. In our Christmas stockings this year, Santa gave all the grownups ugly, scary teeth. Really, REALLY ugly. Which we donned merrily for pictures, until we realized they would probably come back to haunt us one day. But by then, it was too late, and cameras had been safely hidden away. Drat.
Well, eventually, we made it back to our house, where we celebrated New Year's Eve with a bonfire in the backyard. Totally, deliciously illegal. Go ahead. Call the coppers. See if I care. We've burned the evidence anyway. Mwahahahaha! Oh, except for the pictures. Here are two sticky kids. With Mom. And Dad. Oh, and yes, we are in shorts, cause it's now 85 degrees again. Um, excuse me- who told winter we were through here? Not me!
Well, that's it, people. If I do anymore, my arms are going to fall off. And then who will take the pictures, hm? You? Are you gonna do it for me?
I didn't think so.

Glimpses of Life
So... angels can have red wings, right? Czarina is an angel in the school Christmas program on Friday- she's in the "angel club", as she calls it. The kids have even come up with angel names- Czarina is "Bambi Angel". Aww... Anyway- all I have is red wings. I think Satan called dibs on red a while back, so I'm not sure if that will work. I certainly don't want her loyalties in the heavenly host to be questioned. That wouldn't do at all. Wonder could I spray paint them gold? Hmm.
You don't even have to ask for pictures- you know I couldn't resist my darling dressed as an angel. And speaking of pictures, here are a few I've been meaning to put up for a while.
Czarina and HeroBoy at Thanksgiving.
Aunt Britt gets snuggles from The Duke.

Le Trip
For those of you just joining our program, let me fill you in. We flew out Tuesday to Baltimore for a longtime friend's wedding. We just got back yesterday. Wow. I thought it would take longer to explain that, but no. I guess I'm much more efficient than I thought.
So, anyway.
Our first flight was delayed, and we missed a connecting flight in Dallas. It put us about an hour and a half behind, but we eventually ended up in Baltimore. I did use the layover time to eat some sushi, which to be honest, was REALLY good, but made me nervous. Cause, ya know. Sushi in an airport? That's weird.
But, we made it in, little bit of jetlag and whatnot, and we got up early Wednesday to do our Baltimore sightseeing. I'm sorry to say, my pictures for this day weren't particularly great - actually, most of the pics I took for this trip were kind of blah. Sorry. My excuse is that I was bone tired and actually a bit sick as well. Eh. Anyway, click the link for Wednesday's photos.

More of Le Trip
Thursday was an official wedding prep day, so we didn't do any sightseeing. Our next excursion was into DC to see, yes, you guessed it, the bums.
No, I'm kidding. I was scared of the bums, and kept a careful eye out for them. I'm sorry, maybe that's not politically correct or whatever, but guys in trenchcoats with crazy eyes that approach my car scare me. Sue me. And the fact that you have to pay them not to bust into your car when you leave really hacks me off.
Anyway.
We went to the National Mall, which is not the headquarters for Gap and the Yankee Candle Fa
